Located in the heart of the Society Islands Archipelago, in close proximity to the Vanilla Island of Taha’a, is Motu Tu Vahine, an authentically Polynesian island. Taha’a & Raiatea have managed to stay pristine in nature and culturally preserved, with family pearl farms, traditional vanilla plantations, copra farming, and fishing, which all constitutes its principal activities and resources.

Vahine Island sits in the chain of reefs and motus that circle Taha’a where it is possible to watch the sunrise over Huahine, the “Untamed Island”, and sunset over Bora Bora, the “Magical Island”. All day long there are fabulous views of both Raiatea and the sister island of Taha’a. Several flights a day arrive serve Raiatea, and you are only 10-15 minutes by air to Bora Bora and Huahine. It is a 30 minute boat ride from Raiatea airport through the shared lagoons to your arrival on Vahine Island.

There are only 9 bungalows (fare’s) on the island, making it one of the most intimate places to stay in all of French Polynesia. Vahine Island gives special attention to couples who are on a honeymoon or celebrating a wedding anniversary. Meals on this property are compulsory and priced into your rates per day, and this resort generally offers 3rd or 4rth night free depending on season for best value.

Though the peaceful atmosphere at Vahine Island tends to invite total relaxation, the energetic staff is happy to assist with any activity you are interested in. Along with many free activies you have 2 other islands to easily explore, and can even take a 10 minute helicopter ride to Bora Bora. Vahine Island offers 3 main categories of bungalow fare’s.

3 Beach Bungalows Fare’s each accommodates 2 adults and a child under 12 years of age. Bedroom has King Bed or 2 twin beds. Bathroom with double sinks and shower, separate toilets, and are fully decorated in Polynesian décor. A large deck and hammock, overlooking the Lagoon and Bora Bora.

3 Deluxe Beach Bungalows Fare’s (NEW) are much larger in size and can accommodate 2 or 3 adults or 2 adults and child under 12. Bedroom is King Bed only, no twins, sitting area with sofa and armchairs, with LCD screen and DVD player Bathroom with double sinks and shower, separate toilets, and are fully decorated in Polynesian décor. A spacious deck and hammock, overlooking the Lagoon and views Bora Bora. This unit also has an outdoor shower.

3 Overwater Bungalows Fare’s are local style overwater bungalows on the lagoon. Each accommodates 2 adults and a child less than 12 years of age. Bedroom has King Bed or 2 twin beds. Sitting area with an aquarium table, a sofa and a covered terrace accessible by outrigger canoe. The large deck has hammock and lounges overlooking the Lagoon and views Bora Bora.

Accommodations are spaced apart along a white sandy beach and coconut grove with a manicured lawn. They are set to blend in with the environment and are stylish and made of local wood and materials.

Vahine Island Restaurant provides exotic and refined cocktails and cuisine. From local style Continental or American Breakfasts to lunch on the beach facing the lagoon while enjoying a large selection of fresh salads, grilled fresh fish or meat, sandwiches, pasta, or marinated fish or desserts you will find yourself pleasantly in a gastronomic heaven, then moving onto dinner you will experience a 3 course fusion of French and Tahitian cuisines with an excellent wine menu to satisfy any pallet.

Vahine Island Bar is a unique example of Polynesian artistry with an assortment of exotic woods, with a floor mosaic of Aito, Ironwood, coconut trunks, and bamboo with volcanic stones from Taha’a. Open all day for your pleasure. The barman is happy to introduce you to a fine selection of cocktails and delightful flavors mixed from local fresh fruit juices and Polynesian Spirits.

Activities are arranged by the staff, and property comes with a full time beach boy who after you have had breakfast has prearranged a few activities each day, including snorkeling, tour of the reef, coconut show. Beach Boy is available to make clients happy, busy and safe in the water. There are many free activities along with certain excursions or activities that can be booked with a fee.
